Laursen's Vow....... (again!)

Laursen's Vow....... (again!)

Martin Laursen is determined to make up for lost time after being given the all-clear to join the start of pre-season training next Monday.

The Danish international has made just 13 appearances since joining Villa from AC Milan, but has worked hard through the summer break to complete his recovery from a knee injury.

Villa physio Alan Smith gave Laursen the green-light as he visited the central defender's summer training camp in Bologna.

And the Dane told www.avfc.co.uk: 'This is the next big step for me. Alan Smith happy about everything, so I can take some part of pre-season for sure.

'It has been a very frustrating time for me and I know the fans have also been frustrated and disappointed.

'I want to put the last two seasons behind me and play regular football. It has been a long hard comeback and there is more hard work to go. But I am making progress and that is great news.'

I'll believe it when I see it. I'll give him 2 games before he breaks down again!

Words mean very little to us Villans right now Martin, as well intentioned as yours may be. Just complete 30 plus games in the claret and blue next season, that's all we ask.

Can we not get some form of compensation back for the lack of games he has played for us?Maybe he could use the wages we have paid him to help sign a player that will actually play football? SeriouslyLaursen,Djemba,Berger,Hendrie a lot of money a week on these lots wages. Is this a managerial fault unable to get the best out of players(when fit)The board who are unwilling to realise a bad investment and so try to improve things by shipping out the deadwood, biting the bullet and diggin deep in their pockets to drag this club kicking and screaming back into the top ten teams in England cause im just hoping at present we can still be in the top 16 by the end of the next season.Doom and gloom at the Villa?

Even SKY don't think we're worth watching, no matches at Villa Park scheduled for TV this year! This means even less revenue, swiftly followed by even more cost cutting measures from the old miser. Who's this Laursen bloke anyway, does he play for us?

I think he was the same at AC Milan wasn't he? If I remember rightly he didn't play much for them because of a serious injury

Oooh bags of optimism here!!!!! I know things look bad but this negativism is helping no one, least of all Laursen, to know that we have no faith in him. What kind of incentive does this give him? I too am skeptical but am willing to at least hope for the best but the attitude shown here represents the worst in all that is wrong with Villa right now. A positive attitude can only help, we are not getting investment and we are not getting rid of HDE or O'Leary so lets do the only thing we can do that might help and that's try to lift the players and the team as a whole, BE POSITIVE!!!!!! Ok so maybe I'm making myself unpoppular here, but frankly I don't care, I'd rather be unpoppular and support my team than follow the crowd and drag my team down.

We are being positive! Potentially the best news of pre-season is Quinn's takeover of Sunderland. Fingers crossed

Good point DougInaBox, but then he still has to be stupid enough to take O'Leary. I don't mind criticising O'Dreary or HDE but lets try to build up the players and team as a whole.

Good point Villain of the North. It's not the players that are the main problem here after all. Laursen, when fit, is an international centre half, which is something we desperately need.
