Milan Baros Plays For 63mins

Aston Villa's star striker Milan Baros managed 63 minutes for the Czech Republic.

Unfortunately his efforts weren't enough as the Republic went down to ten men and the Italians had the luxury of being able to contain Baros, sometimes with three defenders.

The Czech Republic, as well as the USA, are now out of the World Cup with Italy and Ghana winning their group.

Baros suffered a foot injury in pre-tournament training and so was unable to make the impact he had hoped for. The Czechs weren't helped by the fact Koller also picked up an injury which left them short up front (and I hope you understand there is a joke there - Koller - short up front? NO? I'm wasted here).

Just got to hope now that no one comes in and bids for Baros, I'd love to see him play next season in the claret and blue of Villa.

Hopefully his lack of playing time at the WC will mean that there is a lack of interest in him and he'll get over his injury just in time for pre-season.

An ineffective 63 minutes in a losing side that played boring football is not going to bring the giants of the game beating a path to Villa Park in search of Milans signature and not sure their would be any profit from what Villa paid for him.

I'm glad Baros had a shocker of a World Cup. It takes the heat off him, with players like Klose, Rosicky, Torres and Villa looking hot, other clubs will be targeting in form strikers and leave our Baros alone!

You might be right Lee. Hoepfully he'll come back thinking he's got something to prove and we'll see the best of him next season

Ineffective? You were watching a different match, they had three men on him at one point.

No, Fear watched the same match, one man or three men on him no difference he was ineffective, he did nothing. If that means the opposition tactics worked so be it.

Sadly I believe that he's being virtually pushed out of the Villa Park door. He probably wants out too though to be fair, the lure of European club football being too hard to resist. Whether or not he appears in the claret and blue shirt next season depends on I believe whether someone is prepared to fork out Villa's asking price, and it will be interesting to see just what sort of price we are in reality asking for.
