With the article the other day from the official site talking about the great success of the Price Freeze promotion, I just wondered why Villa haven't declared exactly how many season ticket have been sold?
With all the talk of long queues, especially the one last Saturday from 3.30am, and the busy box office, maybe they should declare the figures instead of talking in the 'smoke and mirrors' speak we are so used to.
PLEASE, don't get me wrong, this isn't aimed at the people at the ticket office, they are all great people and very helpful, I've certainly had great service over the years. It is just IF there is good news, why not share it?
I know I'm running out of Villa mates as they are all refusing to renew (or at least that is what they have told me!!!!). So, if I know eight people that I would usually meet up with who aren't going back next season, how many do you know? The ticket sales have got to have slumped or something very strange is going on.
SO COME ON VILLA, let us know the figures, or is this all talk like the 'takeover' and the '£8million ring-fenced for Bodymoor Heath' ?
An article in the Express and Star says: The club is reluctant to confirm how many have renewed, but the numbers have brought some relief after fears of a boycott. WHY? Why are they reluctant if the mass exodus of fans isn't happening? You would surely shout the figures from the roof tops?
If we get another season like last year, you can guarantee that the 7% drop will be doubled this time because the patience of the fans can only be stretched so far.
Head of consumer sales Nicola Keye commented on the official site:
'Last week was exceptional - as I would have expected it to be coming up to the renewal date. Well over 1,500 season ticket holders renewed on Friday alone and over 4,000 season ticket holders took advantage of the price freeze in the final week. People queued from 3.30am on Saturday morning to relocate their seats.'
Adding: 'The numbers are fine. Because we didn't do a price freeze last year, the numbers are significantly higher than this time last year, when the renewal date was July 8. Aston Villa is clearly in the supporters' blood and it's pleasing to think fans are backing the team for the new campaign.'
