England Can Go All The Way

Vital Villa asked just how far can England go at the World Cup. The votes were very split!

24% say that we can repeat the success of 1966 and go all the way, 2% predicted the three lions would get to the final and lose.

27% said the semi finals before heartbreak and 25% the quarter finals. 13% thought we'd just make the 2nd round and 9% that we'd be knocked out straight after the group stage.

COME ON ENGLAND!

The 9% that voted that we'll get knocked out at the group stage are bonkers!

I've seen at least ten teams who I feel are more than capable of beating us. I hope I'm proved very wrong, but I just dont think we've the slightest chance of winning this thing. In '66 we started slowly, drawing 0-0 with Uruguay, then struggling to break down Mexico, but at least then it looked as if things were coming together. We've got some fine individual players, but we just dont look a team. Hopefully I'll change my mind after we've beaten Sweden.

Ooops Glensider. I think tonights England performance shows that any dreams of winning this tournament are not going to come true. A very average Sweden team, without Ibrahimovic, managed to make England's defence look amateur and pedestrian. This is the first team of any (debatable) quality that England have faced and they struggled. Argentina, Spain, Germany, Holland, Brazil, France and possible Portugal could all beat England with the way they are playing now.
