Come On Villa - BID

Come On Villa - BID

Aston Villa's operations director Steve Stride has rubbished claims that Villa will use midfielder Gareth Barry as part of the package to lure James Milner to Villa Park.

He said: 'We're not sure where the stories have come from. But Villa fans can rest assured there's no substance to it whatsoever.'

Both players agents also say they know nothing of any such deal.
Reports claiming that Reading boss Steve Coppell is interested in Lee Hendrie also appear wide of the mark.

Villa have yet to have any bids for any of their players and that might prove a massive stumbling block in O'Leary's attempts to bring James Milner to Villa permanently because of the sell-to-buy policy set by Ellis. Despite the fact Ellis said that we didn't need to sell before buying a player, just that the books would need to be balanced with sales to follow, there still appears no official bid for Milner, the young Newcastle winger that O'Leary has indicated he wants to build the team around.

Now reports are suggesting Wigan are set to scupper Villa and bid £4million. Lets hope that report is just as wide of the mark as the Hendrie/Reading link!

We can't sign Milner because the chairman is on holiday. How many other professional clubs would grind to a halt because an 82 year old duffer was away topping up his perma tan?

Steve Stride isn't though and we should be able to bid for him. Doug being on holiday shouldn't grind the plc to a halt! He is also obviously contactable. Perma tan, LOL

Thats how Ellis is. No surprise! At the EGM Ellis only wants to address one issue! The sale of Serpentine Proberty! The income of the sale should generate more than £ 7 mill, which Ellis wants use to offset primarily debts and expected operating loss, which he says is expected at £ 9 mill + in November 06. No wonder, cause he is nursing he own shares, which has fallen to down under 400 by now! That man is someone else! Get rid of him! and DOL!

Steve Stride can't get himself a cup of tea without Doug's say so. We shouldn't grind to a halt because an old man falls asleep on the beach but we do. As England progress further in the World Cup look out for an appearance by Doug.

Bet he'll find some way to claim credit for it if they win!

Calm down everyone, nothing will happen for most clubs right now as all focus is on Germany. Most clubs will have significant memers of thier staff there, if for no other reason, networking.

You are correct villain, the transfer market will explode into frantic activity within 2 days of the WC finishing.
