O'Leary Can Eat My Hat

Loads of hogwash being swilled around about Gareth Barry. The latest reports in Newcastle say that David O'Leary will use our left sided midfielder as bait to tempt Glenn Roeder to part with James Milner.

NO HE WILL NOT. O'Leary has said that Gareth Barry and Steven Davis are not for sale, if he does any sort of swap deal for Barry I'll eat my hat - or more appropriately make DOL eat it and then pay for a replacement one.

end of.

(and yes, this is the shortest article I've ever done!)

Lets not castigate the O'Leary fella for what appears to be VERY lazy journalism on the part of the Newcastle Evening Chronicle... ;)
GaztonVilla
I happen to live in Newcastle and obviously read the Chronicle on a regular basis. I am assuming the article is by Alan Oliver who is an absolute tw*t. He writes utter BS which he makes up as he goes along when he's got nothing else to write about. Remember that this is the paper who claimed that Sven would be Newcastle's next manager! Take it with a pinch of salt
DougInABox
Youre right Douginabox, it is written by Oliver. Unfortunately he is just like any other journalist (I'm looking at YOU Bill Howell) who focuses on a local club. He needs to have a story every day to satisfy the local fans otherwise the newspaper won't sell, especially here in Newcastle where the football club is the pulse of the city. I've got a shovel for the salt.

Wasn't castigating, just made the best headline! AVFC: Operations Director Steve Stride today insisted there were no plans to use Barry as bait in any deal. He told www.avfc.co.uk: "We're not sure where this story has come from, but Villa fans can rest assured there's no substance to it whatsoever."
The Fear
No substance in it, just like our bank vault for Transfers...boom boom :o)

I suppose only the transfer window will tell!! Id hate to lose either, they are the rock if villa have one!

If we have got one, I assuming our manager is hiding under it....conspicuous by his absence again this summer isn't he? Do we assume he is scouting the world for new talent? No, thought not!
DougInABox
What do you want him to say DougInABox? I'm of the opinion that if you've got nothing positive to say, say nothing at all. If thats what DOL is doing, I'm glad. Also, he's at the World Cup on official Villa business.
GaztonVilla
Would like to know that there is some form of transfer activity going on behind the scenes e.g the Milner situation. But I agree Gazton that him saying nothing at all is better than the negative comments we got last season
DougInABox
I'm even more worried about what could happen, now that Stride has come out with his statement. Since when has Ellis or Stride become accepted as truth tellers?
glensider
Barry must not be sold unless it is for ridiculous money, end of! That said anyone see the left sided Croat (Babic I think) last night looked quality and two of the centre halves Tudor and Kovac quality
fatloser
I just do not believe it !! I'm sure it will all come out in the wash.
