DLC Should Stay At Villa

Vital Villa asked if Aston Villa should keep Ecuador international Ulises de la Cruz.

An amazing 82% said yes with only 9% saying no.

The remaining 9% said he should only be kept if he has a chance of playing.

There are mixed reports on whether he will stay although most seem to predict DLC will not be kept at Villa Park for next season.

I dont think we should keep him just because of 1 good game for Ecuador. He wont play much so we might aswell sell him. Same goes for Hendrie, Djemba and Berson.

Trouble is if we also sell Delaney, we have no cover if Hughes gets injured? BUT no point keeping him if he doesn't get a game.

I'd rather keep Delaney for a year and let him go for free next year than take the 400k thats been reported.

Agree deano, get the use of him for another season, he is one of the very few who look up for the fight when they play.

He should stay, but under another Management including DOL and Ellis!

Deano, we can't sell him as he's out of contract in July. Jason, totaly agree, he has never been a defender until DOL needed cover after Delaney copped a bad tackle. If Hendry is on his way out, as appears the case, keep DLC as cover for Milner (if we get him) as he seams to be content to take his chances when he gets them without complaing about lack of first team action.

are we that desperate that we should consider De La Cruz in the villa squad? He really just isnt good enough and if by the grace of god we find ourselves challenging for some sort of european place (no i dont think it'll happen either) then it'll be because of better players in the squad than de la cruz.

De La Cruz isnt good enough for a starting place, I think we all agree on that. But, he is adequate as cover and he is happy to play that role. HE won't moan to the press as soon as he misses one game (I'm looking at YOU Lee Hendrie) and when he does play, he gives everything he's got. If he wants to stay, I'm happy to keep him.

The only reason he wants to stay is that he won't be able to get a better or equal club so moving is going to mean a pay cut.

Not good enough, simple as that.

We need numbers. There's a lot of better players out there than de la Cruz, but we cant afford them. If he's happy to stay as basically a back up player, then yes, undoubtedly we should keep him. Our squad is thin enough. One thing though, he should never be played as a defender. The mans a total liability.

I suppose, that at the end of the day, the question has to be - Is HE happy to stay and just warm the bench? If he is, then it looks like al is well.
