Villa To Hail Cesar?

Villa in 'we might sign a player' shocker!

Reports are linking Aston Villa to 29-year-old free agent Cesar Martin.

The Deportivo La Coruna defender is being linked to a number of clubs including Bolton but current reports in Spain suggest Villa and Fulham are the two teams fighting over his signature.

The players agent Jose Maria Garcia Osuna said:

'The future of the player is England, not Spain. I am preparing to go to London and have several meetings. My objective is to close the subject with the best offer, Cesar is totally prepared for the English adventure.'

Apparently Cesar, a former Spanish international, only managed 20 games last season in La Liga due to injuries. So he'll be perfect for Villa. :(

Looks like agent talk to me.

Yes, but what sort of salary will he be looking for? His agent states that he his looking for the best offer. Thats natural I guess, but I cant imagine for one minute that under the latest Ellis directives we are even in the ball-park when it comes to competing with salary demands.

We dont need anynore injuried players. Villa should use some of the 7 mill, which the sale of the Serpentine Property could generate to get some first class players!

Unfortunately the Serpentine money wont be coming in until December, and its already been marked for reducing the overdraft. Is this player really injury prone or has he been unlucky. I'm in favour of this signing, because if it comes off, he'll be an excellent addition to the squad. If it doesn't, thats the gamble you have to take. But when you're betting with pennies, you need to put the bet on very long odds.
