Darius Vassell Still A Villa Fan

Darius Vassell, who for some reason gets booed by sections of the Holte End whenever he returns with Manchester City, still considers himself a Villa fan according to the latest (16th) edition of Villa's magazine Claret and Blue.

Villa asked our former striker to sign the Harmoney Register, also signed by the likes of Stan Collymore, Jlloyd Samuel, Luke Moore and Nobby Solano, which he did. The one section of the register, which you can also sign if you go to the North Stand reception, asks 'relationship to the club'.

Vassell said quite simply 'supporter'.

Good man!

The initiative is all part of the Kick Racism Out Of The Game.

Operations manager Lee Preece explained in the magazine (available for £3) 'The Villa in Harmony scheme represents the club's commitment to achieving equality across all areas of our business.'

I bet you wish you still had him.

He was going nowhere at Villa under DOL. In fact thats not quite right. he was going backwards. It was best to get rid though I think we may have sold him a bit cheaply. Mind you.. hasnt set the world on fire with City has he? Yet.
AC
Understood the reason foe selling him, he had grown tierd at VP. Re the boo boys they are idiots, he owes us nothing and he (like any other player) must get boyed up when he hears them (the boo idiots).
irish villa
Could have been a very good striker at Villa if it wasn't for DOL. Definitely sold too cheaply and has already come back to haunt us

Sorry to see him go, although I understand the reasoning behind it. Always unfortunete to hear boos for returning players especially ones who gave as much as Darius. I hope he knows how the majority of fans appreciate his efforts when playing for us.
irish villa
Well said irish villa. Can't understand why he would be booed considering he's always had good things to say since he left the club. It's not like he demanded a move to City either
DougInABox
he hasent done that good at manchester city or villa for that matter
green giant 12
Like the fact he said supporter rather than ex-player.
deanovilla
Decent bloke, he had gone stale at Villa under DOL but can never understand why he gets booed.

I'm ambivalent about the Darius situation. The timing was right for him to go and we got about the right kind of money for a player with his contract coming to an end. Hasn't really been the same player since he missed that penalty for England 2 years ago...
GaztonVilla
Agree with Gazton, plus I think that he missed the partnership with Angel in his last season.

Once a Villain, always a Villain. Well done Darius, you'll always be one of us. Well, if you score against us again next season with such regularity we might have to review that statement.....
