Spurs Can Get Lost!

According to a report in the Daily Mail today, Villa are 'bracing themselves' for a 3.5million bid from Tottenham for left sided midfielder Gareth Barry.

Rubbish. Villa aren't bracing themselves for anything, let alone a bid of 3.5million for a player worth double that.

IF Villa were to sell Gareth Barry for a sum like that, I would send my season ticket back and that would be it for me. We might be a selling club these days but I don't think even our lot would be that stupid? 7million would surely be the bottom line and then we still shouldn't sell?

Barry, in my ever so humble opinion, was the main reason we stayed up last season, we can't afford to let him go if we want to do the same in the 2006/7 season and O'Leary knows it as Barry and Davis are apparently the two players he is insisting Villa keep.

Our latest poll coincides with this story with 46% of Villa fans who voted saying that Villa must not sell Gareth Barry. Full article: Click Here

Amen to that Mr Fear.. 10million is the only figure that should even be worthy of reading a fax from Spurs.

I think this is just paper talk but if he was sold for a rubbish sum like that, I'd return my season ticket in disgust. Trouble is I do fear that he might want to move to a club with ambition as careers are short and players like that should be playing in Europe.

spurs always put in cheeky bids, 5 mill for van nist 2.5 for chimbonda then they spend 11 mill on a lazy russian, they can go screw themselves. Our future captain is staying put.

I'm sorry but there is no way Barry is worth 10m! Then again, 3.5 is a tad cheeky. 5m would seem sensible to me, and as spurs fan I'd be happy with signing Barry.....

Wouldn't be happy with Murphy, maybe Routledge + 8m ;-)) (You see Doug, this his how you negotiate!!!)

You Villa fans must have it bad if you think Barry is worth 10million! He's a decent player but he wouldn't stand out in a half decent team. I'm not really sure if he would add that much to the Spurs side other than giving us some balance. He is a Yid thou!

Not saying he's "worth" 10million, but value is relative... He is a vital cog in our team and losing him would cost us in terms of his play, his influence and his future captaincy material.

10 mill, ha ha ha ha!!!! somewhere between 3-5 mill is about right. considering we could get bridge for 5 mill, and taylor for less than that doesn't leave villa in a great position if you have to sell to buy

3.5m and Danny Murphy would be a fair deal. Murphy would bring quality into midfield in terms of passing and finall ball a great goal threat from set pieces too..!

Tell you what why don't you have routledge and Murphy, or how about a Centre half could we tempt you with Gardener instead of Routledge.and call it a deal, would be sad to see routledge go as he will be good cover for Lennon, I've always been a fan of Murphy, but he's going to struggle to oust Jenas and Carrick, and we have back ups in Tanio, and the excellent young Huddlestone. Barry is a player I've always liked and thought should of had more England opportunities.

All you Villa fans are idiots. Firstly, 3.5m is more than enough for Barry, and secondly, we dont need a player like that. Spurs are in a different class to Aston Villa, u can keep ure *****ty players as u need all the 'good' players u have. I doubt any Spurs fans are gonna be crying if we dont get Barry. Mabye if he gets into the England squad in a few years, Spurs will have a think about him. This is nothing more than a stupid rumour........we dont need ure ***** players.

Barry isn't worth 7 million pounds. Everton signed a powerfull exciting player for that much... these keywords "powerfull" "exciting" do not apply to Barry. Perhaps "Lazy" "Seen his best day" "unmotivated" would sum up Barry. For me 3.5 million is about right. You could rplace him with 2 or three better players from the lower leagues with that money.

It's amazing how all these Spurs fans crawl out of the woodwork each time their team is mentioned on the Villa pages - I guess it just goes to show how insecure they are, that they feel the need to be so vitriolic (for you spurs fans - use a dictionary ;-p). I definately scense a huge chip on the proverbial shoulder here and I wonder if they are just scared that there newfound progress and optimism is only temporary. And to say that Villa fans are not realistic, please read all posts for the last season, you will all know that we are very realistic, just *****ed off with the current "leadership" at our club. (or maybe it's just that the Vital Spurs page is just sooooooooooo boring that they have to look for excitement elsewhare :-) - or could it be that they just like to kick a guy when he's down - did all Spurs fans, when growing up, like to pull the wings off flies and the legs off spiders ;-P)

Yes, 3.5 million would be an absolute joke offer, and is almost certainly just a figure pulled out of the air by the media, but all this talk of a serious Tottenham interest has to be unsettling for the player. If Spurs do come in with a serious bid though, I reckon he'll be off. Loyalty can only go so far, and GB must know as well as the next man that we're going nowhere while the current regime remains in place.

One good season rising out of mid table mediocrity, a good manager and progressive board investing in the future yes. Yes it is a far better place to be than us currently but it is the Uefa cup guys where Bolton, Middlesvilla, Newcastle etc have been. Spurs are not and will not be world beaters credit for progression and a decent season but you lot, as so many are are light years away. We have Ellis to blame...not a dodgy Lasagne !

We finished just 2 points outside the top 4 (CL) and spent 6 months in the top 4 Without even beating one of the so called BIG 4. So its true were not there yet ! but to say we are light years away is just something you keep telling yourself so you feel better when you best player comes to us !!!

Isn't it amazing how 5 minutes of success breeds such arrogance! You are light years away because, as you so rightly said, you didn't beat one of the "Big Four" and until you can compete with them on an even keal (that means winning sometimes, not just playing for the draw) you can only concider yourselves the best of the rest, and this was only one season. Lets see what happens in the future before we talk about being "nearly there".
