Steven Davis Is The Real Deal!

Vital Villa asked what you think of Villa's young midfielder Steven Davis.

The poll followed on from reports that Sir Alex Ferguson was looking to bid for Northern Ireland's youngest ever captain to take Davis to Manchester United. Reports have long since suggested the Fergie see's Davis as a possible replacement for Old Trafford legend Roy Keane.

55% of Villa fans said that Davis should be kept at all costs.
3% said he should be sold if we get £5million or over and a further 12% valued him at £8million.

14% predict he will be an outstanding Premiership midfielder and just 5% said he will be an average Premiership midfielder.

The remaining 11% said that Davis was 'all hype'. I think we'll see in a year or two that Davis is far from hype, he might still have a lot to learn, but he is an outstanding and exciting prospect, just hope we see him fulfil his potential at Villa Park, not elsewhere.

Not much else going on new wise, we are still being linked to Danny Mills who Manchester City have decided to let go and Everton are now after 'Villa target' Joleon Lescott from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Our latest poll asks, if Villa have to sell players, which would you most like to stay.

Danny Mills, as a free signing, would be an excellent piece of business. It's about time we had a dirty f**ker in the team, someone who's prepared to dig in and kick his opponent. For far too long, Villa have been a "nice" team with no bite.

so true, apart from barry (and the opccasional shwoing from mcaann and mellberg ) our team is made up of lambs which are often slaughtered

I would echo the above, think Mills would be worth a punt. Gives us something we lack (physical edge). He may see this as a last chance saloon and as he is only 29 and has made some money in moves could be in our wage bracket. Lescott is a non starter and not required. Midfield general required apply Villa Park.

The problem with Mills is that he only puts the boot into his own team with stupid red cards. Stuart Pearce was a hard man, Mills is a plonker.

Yes - it's significant that it's Stuart Pearce who wants to lose him when it was HE that was the prototype! Pearce was always fair, though, that's the difference. I've no time for red-card experts - certainly not at Villa.

It has not been stated anywhere that Danny Mills is available on a free. All that was said was that he was free to leave Man City...If he was a ''free'' they would have released him. Although it would be funny to see him and Hendrie in the same team after Hendries infamous feigned head-butt last season.

Danny Mills is well worth a gamble, particularly as we are likely to lose Mark Delaney.

he's going to be a big star in the future, i dont think u will keep hold of him that much longer

Steve Davis is going to be a major talent, of that there can be no doubts. However he's still a good way away from being the finished article. In several games last season, both at home and away, I felt he went missing at times, which perhaps is par for the course for someone still learning their trade. There were times also when I felt he'd had a quiet, even a poor game, yet upon reading the post match reports found that the media was raving about his display, so I dont know. Good that he weighed in with a few goals last term, that was a definite plus to his midfield performances. Absolutely musn't sell him.
