No Baggies Playmaker For Villa

No Baggies Playmaker For Villa

A loyal football player, whatever next!

West Bromwich Albion's Zoltan Gera has dismissed links to a Hawthorne's exit despite links to Aston Villa, Wigan and Everton.

The midfielder told Sky Sports 'I have a contract with West Brom for one more year and I start training with West Brom soon.' Adding 'Yeah I think so I will stay. After this season I spoke with the manager and he said he wants all the players to stay at West Brom and we want to go up again to the Premier League.'

The Hungarian missed much of the season with injuries which had a massive impact on the Baggies. His contribution the season before was a major factor in them staying up. Nice to see some loyalty, even if it does mean we won't get exactly what we need, a playmaker!

Would be a good bye but like many more why would he come to us with the mess we are in? I think he will leave West Brom though.

Bet you a tenner he'll be gone before August. All that talk about having 1 year left, he's basically just reminding West Brom they should let him go now so they can command a fee.

I agree ... and I'd love to see him at Villa Park. He's an excellent player and is just what we need. He's just as capable in the middle of the park and if we can't then create with Gera, Barry, Davies and Milner then God help us. That all relies on the manager not advising the defenders to HOOF of course ;o)

He's a premiership quality player, and as such he needs to be playing week in/week out at the highest level. Championship football is no good to him. He'll be off before a ball is kicked in anger come August, but I doubt very much that Villa Park would be his destination of choice, even if we could actually afford him.
