Sheffield Utd After Villa Midfielder

There are strong rumours that Sheffield United are more than a little bit interested in Aston Villa's longest serving player.

A reliable source told me that Premiership new boys Sheffield United are looking to firm up their interest in Lee Hendrie and that Lee would be interested in the move in order to get regular first team football.

Hendrie dropped down the pecking order last season with O'Leary and has often been played out on the left when his best position is central or just in front of the two strikers. He stated several times that at his age he needs to be playing regularly and that he might need to move on in order to do that.

I wonder how much we'll get for him? Cant see it being much more than a million to be honest. So for him, Berson and DJ-DJ we're probably looking at £3million. That would get us milner but then we still have no new players as Milner was with us on loan, and we have lost 3 midfielders. GULP.

Unfortunately I don't think £3 million will get us Milner any more. IMO we missed the boat in trying to seal his signature at the end of last season. A decent offer then would have persuaded Freddie Shepherd. Instead we delayed and that has allowed Wigan, Bolton and now Middlesboro to enter the fray. I suspect once Newcastle allow him to go the price will be more than £3 million.

Shocking. Spurs fans can take the mick out of Villa without anyone moaning. How low can it go? And yes, Milner does look like Stephen Mulhern!

I think this would be a good move for Hendrie. Although I don't expect to see any movement until the Milner situation is cleared up. If Milner joins Hendrie is gone. If Milner doesn't join it would be idiotic to sell Hendrie - who else would play on the right wing? Afterall Milner is the only reason Hendrie will leave....oh and coz of O'Leary of course...but thats a given nowadays im afraid.

Totally agree Silver Fox, but surely a decent chairman would have had an option to buy Milner written into the loan deal?? We've lost out big time on the Solano deal and I can't see Milner being at VP next season. Well done Doug, another fine mess you've got us into

I cant see us getting even 1m for Hendrie, another reason why I think we'd be foolish to sell him. Replacing him is not going to be cheap, and cash is something in very short supply at B6 right now. If I knew that James Milner was definitely coming in, then it might change my opinion on releasing Lee, but everything is right up in the air at Villa Park, and I think that the more squad players we keep, the more sense it makes.
