Baros Will Be Worth Top Dollar!

According to our poll on Milan Baros, 15% believe he will be worth the £18million fee that is reportedly set in his contract as a 'get out clause'.

The poll, suggested by Villain of the North, asked how much our top scorer from last season will be worth if he ends up putting in another golden boot performance in the World Cup (last time he shone for the Czech Republic at the Euro's).

48% said £10-15million, 12% said £6.5-£10million and 5% said we would get the £6.5million we paid Liverpool for him last summer.

20% quite rightly (!!) voted that he should not be sold.

He certainly put himself in the shop window the other night scoring a great goal in a pre-World Cup friendly for the Czech Republic v Saudi Arabia.

£10,000,000 + would be alright. I would be sorry to see him go. He is our one truly world class player. However if the monies raised from his sale is made available it would help strengthen the team. However would DOL be trusted with such an abundance of wealth?

I dont think that there can be too much doubt that he's going, the only question up for debate is just how much, or how little, will Doug take for him. No doubt a lot depends on Baros' performances in the upcoming World Cup. If the Czechs progress and Baros has an outstanding personal tournament, then no doubt Ellis will at least attempt to hold out for 12m plus, but an early Czech exit could see us struggling to get the 7m we supposedly paid Liverpool for him. Progress for the Czechs through the group stage is going to be far from easy. They are in a group with the United States, who are not the pushovers they once were, and who are more than capable of upsetting Baros and co in the opening group game.

My opinion: no amount of money should be enough. If he stays at Villa Park, and stays fit, he'll be our top goalscorer next season.
