Monaco Target Aston Villa Striker

Reports just in are suggesting that Aston Villa's top scorer Milan Baros is a target for Monaco.

Reports in France suggest they will put a bid of around £8million in for the former Liverpool striker who cost Villa £6.5million last season.

David O'Leary looks set to have to offload the striker who, despite injuries and a team set up to hoof the ball forward, managed to score one goal every other game last season.

There is a get out clause in his contract, rumoured to be between £15-18million but it seems he will be sold for far less to cover up the mess Doug Ellis has made of the finances at Villa yet again.

I will be so p&&sed off when he goes. Quality player, we should be building the squad around people like this.

I wouldn't mind him going if it is for the amount specified in the get out clause as we have some good talent coming through (as long as Angel stays - even if not scoring, he can teach the young lads alot) and we could buy 3-4 decent players for that kind of money. Problem is, I don't trust O'Leary to either use the funds wisely or to be able to develope the talent we already have. :-/ I am, however backing him (for now) for the sake of the team - maybe, with our support, they kan rekindle that team spirit that took us to the brink of Europe 2 seasons ago.

Andy Johnson £8.5m Top scorer in Euro 2004 £8m makes sense doesn't it. £10m minimum, and I think he should be kept anyway, as he could be the man to push us to the staggering heights of mid table

never really felt comfortable about baros...hes never realy given the impression that he is happy at villa even when he signed.as if he knows the world cups around the corner, sign for a team befourhand that will definatly give first team appearances then move on quickly when the chance arises.

Very sad times when perhaps your only true class act has to be sold to finance purchases, due to severe mis-management of the financial side of the club.

If Doug plays it properly we could get 18m for him. That would be a great deal for us. Probably the first player that we've sold at a profit in years.
