Knives Out For Villa's Hendrie?

Oh sorry, didn't mean knives, I meant blades?!

Premiership new boys Sheffield United are being linked with a move for Aston Villa's out of favour midfielder Lee Hendrie.

If you use the sites search function (in the column with leagues, poll etc) you'll see a whole host of clubs linked to Hendrie over the last year as well as quotes from Lee saying all he wants to do is play football.

The Sun say that Neil Warnock is ready to bid 1.6million and the Blades would be willing to pay him 18 000 a week. Nice work if you can get it!

Is 1.6million enough? Who would we replace him with? Do we not need more bodies in the squad? With the imminent (albeit on and off) move of Matthieu Berson, the expected departure of Jumper Jumper, just how short of midfielders are we going to be? With a lack of funds to replace them, the worry is how much we can rely on the likes of Craig Gardner next season.

Vital Villa ran a poll recently : Click Here

A massive 73% said Hendrie should stay UNLESS we get a bid of 2.5million or over for him. A further 7% said Villa should keep him if we can only get 1million for him.

you cant really count losing berson as he was never with us anyway apart from a couple of games.as for the twins, he only made the subs bench a handfull of times.i say take the money for henders.

If Lee goes, as looks likely, we'll need at least two midfielders (both of which aren't Bakke). Both of them will have to be people who DOL will actually consider playing after he signs them.

I do not think he should be sold to another premership club as no doubt he will come back to haunt us, darius for example.

1.6m take it cos he will not feature under Dol anyway. That will release funds for Bakke if O'Leary persuades Doug... or help finance Milner

Glad to see the back of the most over-rated Villa player in recent times. No bottle, not touch and a bluenose.

Wherever he ends up, we have to replace him, and replace him with a better player. Thats after all the way to build and progress. Got a feeling we are going to end up with a first team squad of around 15 players.
