Au revoir to Matthieu Berson and bonne chance!?
Well, according to quotes in the Express and Star, it seems that club president of Auxerre is still wanting to buy Matthieu for the £1million fee already agreed although the deal might be complicated by the fact that the French club won't deal with the midfielders agent who is allegedly facing a ban.
A source told reporter Tim Nash: 'It's the Auxerre president that's keen to do the deal. If anything, the sacking of Santini has helped Villa's cause. Villa are confident Berson will go in the near future.'
The report also claims that there has been no interest in any player other than Berson and the Djemba twins who has been linked to Paris St Germain, Sporting Lisbon and Benfica.

From what I've seen and the reputation Berson has built up in France, £1 million is way underpriced, but then that's nothing new for us, buy expensive and sell cheap

A guy never given a chance. Maybe he couldnt/wouldnt have settled over here, maybe he'd never have made it at premiership level, but in fairness to him, and after all of the long drawn out saga to get him here, he surely deserved more of an opportunity? Will the money we receive for him be put towards a new player, or will it disappear into the Ellis coffers to fund his and Strides year end bonus?
