'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Villa Times - 22/05/2006

It looks like Doug Ellis has ruled out any move for Leeds United midfielder Eirik Bakke which on the surface appears to be a good decision but does call into question, who makes the footballing decisions at Villa Park? Full article: Click Here

Doug has said he is 'flexible' with transfers and although they will have to sell to balance the books, that doesn't mean Villa can't make purchases first. Full article: Click Here

Vital Villa asked what sort of buyer you would like at the club. No shocks that 49% said a Russian quadzillionaire! 29% said they didn't care what sort of new owner we got as long as Doug goes! 14% wanted a consortium of businessmen meaning only 8% were looking at a fan led investment vehicle.

Milan Baros will be sold for less than the £18million get out clause according to reports. Other players linked with a Villa Park exit are: Juan Pablo Angel, Lee Hendrie, Jlloyd Samuel, Eric Djemba-Djemba, Mathieu Berson and Peter Whittingham. Olof Mellberg and Mark Delaney are also mentioned in reports and Ulises de la Cruz has already been released. Full article: Click Here

Lee Hendrie is currently being linked with a move to West Bromwich Albion with Zoltan Gera moving in the opposite direction. Full article: Click Here

Reports at the weekend suggested that Chelsea striker Carlton Cole might be moving to Spurs for £1million. I suggested he might be worth a punt at that sum, although most disagreed with me in the Vital forum. Full article: Click Here

Reports today claim that long term target Chelsea defender Robert Huth might be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Steve Davis became Northern Ireland's youngest ever captain when they played Uruguay last night.

Villa have started cost cutting allowing a weight training instructor, two doctors, masseurs and chief Scout Ian Broomfield to exit Villa Park. Full article: Click Here

Villa's Youngsters missed out on re-claiming their Hong Kong Sevens crown as they lost a sudden-death play-off against Urawa Reds. Gabriel Agbonlahor was named Player of the Tournament. Craig Gardner was the top scorer in the competition with four goals.

Matthieu Berson might have to return to Aston Villa for pre-season training after doubts over a permanent move to Auxerre have been cast by his agent. Full article: Click Here

Glenn Roeder has said Newcastle are in no rush to decide the future of James Milner. Full article: Click Here

Stephen Cooke. Now there was one talented youngster. Like Stefan Moore, I believed from the first time I saw them both in the youth team, that they both were guaranteed stars of the future. How wrong I was.
