Villa To Land German Defender?

Will David O'Leary finally be able to get his long term defensive target?

The Mirror claim that Chelsea might be willing to allow Robert Huth to leave Stamford Bridge after he failed to break into the first team on a regular basis.

Reports today link the German international with a £4million move to ambitious Wigan.

Ah, well there ends our interest, £4million? No way!

Everton, Newcastle and Villa are all named as potential suitors along with the Latics.

No chance for that kind of money. Isnt it amazing how Chelsea can command such large fees for players with very little premiership experience? I wouldnt want him to hold back Cahill's progression anyway.

Yes, But we can't afford £4 million on someone, the board's struggling to find that cash for Milner! I see Laursen (providing he has no more injuries) as a new signing this summer. I think central defence will be strong if we have Olof (back to form permitting), Laursen (back from injury permitting), Cahill and Ridgewell there.

If he ends up at Wigan I'll be very surprised. he'll be heading back to Germany in my opinion.

We said the same thing about Laursen last season. Huth would probably become one of the best players O'Leary ever signed.

No way could we afford him, simple as that. I personally would love him here. A commanding central defensive tower of strength, its what we're lacking, and are desperately crying out for.

i think he looks clumsey, we already have 2 young centre backs, why not spend the 4m on 2 experienced 26+ year olds with a bit of international or european experience? ..i bet kolo toure cost peanuts to arsenal, we need a new scout
