Jamie Ward Released

Youth striker Jamie Ward, who has been on loan to rave reviews at Stockport for part of last season scoring one in nine, has been released by Aston Villa.

His agent, Gino Culberston, says he'll find a club for Ward soon.

Culbertson said: 'Aston Villa have released Jamie on a free transfer but there are several clubs already interested in signing him. Colchester, Chesterfield, Wrexham, Torquay and Stockport are all in there.'

Good luck Jamie, you'll do it son!

Shame to see another of the kids leave, but footie is a tough game, only a very few make the step up. Look at our FA Youth Cup winning players, most have now moved on to clubs in lower leagues.

Must be awful being so close and yet so far. Lets hope he moves to a club and does well, would be great to see him in the Prem in years to come. Difficult thing for the youth people to do, but they have to be realistic!

Good luck to him in the future. Must be hard to be turned away but that's life. Anyone know if he's the only one?

Its a big step from youth to premiership and not every player can make it.

Good luck to him. Hopefully he'll make the grade at a lower level, then take things from there. He's still got a lot of work ahead of him, but leaving B6 doesnt have to be the end of the world.
