Olof Mellberg Wins Top Villa Award

Olof Mellberg Wins Top Villa Award

Great news for Olof Mellberg, in the Vital Villa end of season awards (full results to be announced next week - hopefully you can contain your excitement until then) as he becomes the first winner of a very coveted prize.

So, congratulations to Olof, who has won:

The Best Beard At Aston Villa Award.

The award, in its inaugural year, was set up to ensure that Olof Mellberg won something whilst at Villa. The prize is a gold plated shaving gel tin just in-case the beard gets itchy in the summer.

Olof Mellberg wasn't available for comment and didn't say: 'I'm very honoured, this has fulfilled many of my Aston Villa dreams, I came here to win things and now feel this confirms I was right to move to Villa Park'.

Olof Mellberg was the runaway winner as 87% voted for Mellberg - fearsome warrior beard.

5% voted for Juan Pablo Angel and his George Michael impression.

4% for Liam Ridgewell's bum fluff and .........STOP SNIGGERING AT THE BACK, this is serious reporting for goodness sake......

4% voted for Milan Baros - or did he just miss that bit when shaving?

the picture was taken shortly after the last time he shaved, he vowed never to go near a razor again apparently.
