Olof Mellberg Wins Top Villa Award

Great news for Olof Mellberg, in the Vital Villa end of season awards (full results to be announced next week - hopefully you can contain your excitement until then) as he becomes the first winner of a very coveted prize.

So, congratulations to Olof, who has won:

The Best Beard At Aston Villa Award.

The award, in its inaugural year, was set up to ensure that Olof Mellberg won something whilst at Villa. The prize is a gold plated shaving gel tin just in-case the beard gets itchy in the summer.

Olof Mellberg wasn't available for comment and didn't say: 'I'm very honoured, this has fulfilled many of my Aston Villa dreams, I came here to win things and now feel this confirms I was right to move to Villa Park'.

Olof Mellberg was the runaway winner as 87% voted for Mellberg - fearsome warrior beard.

5% voted for Juan Pablo Angel and his George Michael impression.

4% for Liam Ridgewell's bum fluff and .........STOP SNIGGERING AT THE BACK, this is serious reporting for goodness sake......

4% voted for Milan Baros - or did he just miss that bit when shaving?
