Angel Needs Divine Inspiration

Angel Needs Divine Inspiration

Had to laugh at the different headlines following the quotes from Juan Pablo Angel on the official site.

Two read: 'Angel Hints At Summer Exit' and 'Angel Set for Summer Exit' then a third (Teamtalk) said 'Angel Keen To Stay' !!

Angel has been a bit part player this season and many are saying he will be amongst the first (of many) to leave Villa Park this summer. He told the official site:

'I'll always be thankful to the Villa fans for the rest of my life and that will never change. But we'll have to wait and see what happens. I'm really happy in England and my kids are growing up here and I can't see any reason why I'd want to go anywhere else. Ideally I want to stay at Villa but I can't control the situation.'

He said on the season as a whole: 'It's not been good enough. We've conceded too many goals and we haven't scored enough. We have to get the right balance next season because we can't afford to have another one like this. It's down to everyone who works for the club, from the directors to the players. Everyone has a part to play here and I'm sure they're already taking care of the situation for next season.

Adding: 'I've got no comment to make about my situation but I think they know what to do to change things around.'

Play him and play to his strengths would be a start? And to do that we need more quality in midfield and a manager who realises that hoofing the ball up-front to any of our small strikers WILL NEVER RESULT IN MANY GOALS.

He also said: 'I think I've played well in the last three games I've been involved in. But the season hasn't been good for me or anyone involved at the club. I'd like to be more involved in the team but when I came on, I tried to do all the things I normally do - work hard for the team and do my bit.'

Would love him to stay and excel in the right set up, but chances are he will move to sunnier climbs and successfully see out his career scoring goals.

Shame, 3 seasons back he looked on fire, could have been a legend. Then a season wasted with injuries, this season wasted full stop....... Think he'll need to move on but if we could just get the best out of him we'd be laughing. Will end up another 'what if' no doubt.

I think off-loading him this summer will be a huge mistake. Replacing him, when we have virtually no cash, will be impossible. He looked good second half at Anfield, just needs an extended run in the team. He's still got a lot to offer, and wherever he goes he'll score goals.

i doubt his heart is in it any more, id be fed up of trying to win headers all season against centre backs who are taller and can jump higher...he thrives on crosses and neat play on the outside of box Cant DOL see that the long ball only works when you have tall players?...we have one of the smallest squads height wise which i believe is the main reason behind us letting in so many goals from set plays, i think mellberg and cahill are our only 6 foot plus players and when you come up against players like harewood and drogba we get torn to shreads

Keep him, play him (to his strengths) and he'll shine again - especially under a new manager.

how come we havent had a 20 goal a season striker for 20 years? milosevic had an amazing record before coming to england, but he couldnt hit a barn door most of the time he was with us. Balaban aswell is banging thm in abroad and crouchy is playing for lilverpool and england now i thought angel would be the one until he *****ed his knee up
