Villa - Baros Is A Happy Boy!

Milan Baros, who was given the Sky man-of-the-match award for his brace against Birmingham City has hailed his performance as his 'best moment at Villa so far.'

I especially like the 'so far' part as he is constantly being linked to the Villa Park exit in the summer with talk of a neat profit being available due to a clause in the Czech international strikers contract.

He told the official site:

'Of course I am happy with the way the game went. I'm happy for the fans, for the manager and for all the club. We deserved to win the game today. All the players played well and we were the better team. We wanted three points going into this game and we've got them.'

Adding: 'The fans played a great part today, but they have been great all season. Derbies are always special for players and supporters. This one was even bigger, because both teams are near the bottom of the table. But we have three points and hopefully we are now safe.'

Baros is now joint top scorer in the Premiership (with Luke Moore, who was mysteriously dropped today!) with 8 goals. He also has 3 FA Cup and 1 League Cup goals making him our top scorer in all competitions.

considering the ref had it in for him today he reminded us why we signed him in the first place.

totally agree Jason, he should be happy about today, he was up for it from the start and showed nothing but quality. Mind you, I'm a big fan of the lad, think with some more quality around him, he would be a prized asset.

If we are planning on improving the playing staff next season weshould definately keep hold of him, if not we might as well sell coz he wont reach his full potential with the squad we currently have.

Baros's all round play was impressive - Lazy my Arse ! Just think what he could do if he stays fit for a whole season.

Hopefully he'll remain happy enough to give us at least another season. Agree with what he says in that we as a club havent as yet seen the best of him, although in my opinion what we have seen of him has been impressive enough. In turn though I think that its safe to say that he as an individual hasnt seen the best of AVFC, so maybe if we can convince him of our plans and ambitions for 2006-07, then hopefully he'll postpone that next move for another twelve months or so.

Surely Baros is one of the most likely players to leave in the summer? If he has as good a World Cup as Euro 2004, then I can't imagine he'll stay. The Czechs could have problems getting through their group, though, as Italy, Ghana and the USA will be tough to crack.

Should be in line for goal of the season midland_red. There is a clause in his contract DBT, if the right bids come in, he can leave. But Villa have to make a decent profit on the player as we were the only club willing to 'take a risk' on him. I hope we get a new board who will be able to pursuade him to stay, the guy is quality, he just needs more quality around him.
