Jlloyd Linked To Charlton

Aston Villa left back Jlloyd Samuel has been linked with a move to The Addicks. According to The Independent, Alan Curbishly is lining up a January transfer window swoop for the young defender.

Samuel is London born and good friends with Gunners left back Ashley Cole. Quite what that has to do with the price of eggs I don't know, but maybe a return to his roots will be tempting for Jlloyd? Lets face it, he appears to have stagnated at Villa recently.

It appears, having been an ever present for a number of seasons, that he has struggled to retain his form and early promise. He also struggled with a few injuries late last season and through this season. He is currently playing with a shoulder injury. Samuel has slipped down the pecking order at Villa following the arrival of Dutch international Wilfred Bouma, although is currently playing due to Bouma being injured.

Alan Curbishly isn't the only manager to be linked with the player as reports suggested Rafael Benitez was also lining up a bid to take the player to Anfield.

I hope we keep hold of him, he is a top prospect and it is about time Villa took a youth player and got them beyond the 'prospect' tag and made them into the finished article.

UPDATE

The News Of The World has today taken the story further saying Curbishly might be looking at a £6million bid for Samuel. Blimey!

Yeah it would be nice to see one of "our exciting young crop of players" become quality premiership footballers. Because lets face it youth is our only way of getting quality at the moment. I hope his form and confidence pick up and soon

No offence but he is hardly one of your "exciting crop of young players" He was at Charlton and you nicked him off us. So I hope Curb's doesn't buy him back, it would be a joke having to pay for a player that we spent money on devoloping in the first place.
