Barry Hopes For Some Home Cheer

Gareth Barry is hoping the team can provide some much needed home cheer for Villa fans with the two local derbies coming up.

Villa travel next weekend - in what looks like 3 easy points for Villa (!) - to Highbury. Then we face West Bromwich Albion and Small Heath (Birmingham City) on consecutive weekends (April 9th and 16th)

Barry told the official site: 'There were sections in the second half who were frustrated as we were. We needed the goal so we could relax and start playing. It's the way it's going at the moment. We've got some nice home games coming up, some big derbies for the fans to enjoy so hopefully we can finish the season well. The derby games are going to see pressure on the teams who have got less points than us.'

If only every player had played like Barry this year, we wouldn't be in the mess we are in. Without him I think we'd be in the bottom three and going down. Still, what does a humble sugar bag know?!

Seems to be all we have left to play for now, just some local pride in the local derbies. Could be very interesting. I fear trouble at the Villa v Blues one, especially if Blues look likely to go down at that stage.

If we lose both games i could easily see us getting relegated ourselves, and with our home form the way it is.......

I think The Fear is right. Still, if they do start their nonsense it will give the premiership a glimpse of the real blouse before they head back into the pit of oblivion. Wouldn't it be nice to see them have a riot amongst themselves. Kickin' lumps out of each other like the combat 18 fella's did in Dublin a few years ago. Then the cops wade in with the battons and finish the job!

Hopefully Stride, in his capacity as Operations Director (?) will be well aware of the need for a heavy police presence, because the Blues game has the potential to see the worst acts of hooliganism and violence witnessed in some time.
