Shouldn't This Have Stayed Private?

Blimey, good news for Villa at last!

On-loan Newcastle midfielder James Milner has told David O'Leary that he would love to stay at Villa on a permanent contract.

O'Leary told the official site that the winger 'wants to stay with me here. That is definite. He wants to sign here without a doubt. He has given me those indications. That is good news for us and he has done a great job for Aston Villa this season and will only get better and better. But it would all be down to Newcastle and why should Freddy Shepherd do us any favours? We are a business. They are a business. We have got £1.5million sitting there which we got for Solano. We have that as a down payment. Maybe a second season on loan could be a possibility. If it means me keeping Milner for another year, instead of losing him, I would be delighted.'

Reports in Newcastle are apparently suggesting that the player won't be sold and that he is wanted back into the Newcastle fold come the summer. So O'Leary talking publicly could prove to make the situation very prickly for the young lad. Thought these sort of things were meant to be kept in the dressing room?

Yeah that will put a £1,000,000 on to his asking price. Also why wasn't the £1,500,000 that is just sitting there, from the Solano sale, made available for the January window? Is it to do with the takeover, don't spend until it's all sorted. Or, as I believe, DOL has been told that the money will only be made available in the summer.
still skeggy

Dont think that Newcastle will be particularly keen to let young Milner leave, and I still question whether we, under the present regime, will have available the sort of cash the geordies would want for him. Season ticket sales for 2006-07 will show a huge drop on the present campaign, unless of course new owners move in, bringing with them new hope.
