Injured Striker Can Go All The Way

On-form Aston Villa striker Luke Moore has picked up a thigh injury whilst training with the England U21's in preparation for the game against Norway. The extent of the injury isn't yet know but early reports suggest it could keep him out of the weekends clash v Portsmouth.

Moore, who is our top scorer in the Premiership this season with 8 goals, was surprisingly benched in last weekends 0-0 so off-form Juan Pablo Angel could start up front with Milan Baros!

Meanwhile the 20-year-old's team mates have been singing his praises, with both Liam Ridgewell and fellow striker Kevin Phillips saying the player is the real deal.

Ridgewell has tipped Moore for England adding:

'He's busy, running around, not giving defenders time and I think he gave Jonathan Spector (Charlton) a bit of a hard time. I think it was good for him to come off the bench and show what he can do. He will have been a bit frustrated at dropping to the bench, but he let his football do the talking.'

Phillips told the official site 'He can go all the way' warning opponents that he can only get better from hereon in.

Must be great for his confidence to hear his team mates have faith in him

Of course, the phrase "all the way" could mean to a bigger club - which isn't what is wanted.

Tipped for England, lets face it if AJ and Darren Bent can get in the team, surely theres a chance for him!

I still think he's largely in-effective for big proportions of games, but then strikers are judged on goals so if he can keep banging them in he should play.

Cant work out why he didnt start at The Valley, but even so I still believe he has a lot to prove. He's far from the finished article. I'd start Super Kev against Portsmouth, presumably with Baros, even though the latter looked totally disinterested against Charlton.

I agree with the above although I would say Baros looks disinterested in most games, its only the promise of 10seconds of brilliance (that he doesnt always produce) that keeps him in the team.
